Forensic Auditing is Non Negotiable (No Auditing No Payment) - Aregbesola Tells Fundlautech Team

Breaking News:
#fundLAUTECH Meets Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola
The #fundLAUTECH team for several hours today Monday 31st July 2017 had a robust session with Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola the Executive Governor of State of Osun on resolving the impasse at LAUTECH.
It was a thorough and dispassionate session, providing a fair examination of the situation on ground and it was an opportunity to explore ways to bring the school back on track.
#fundLAUTECH commended the composition and the inauguration of the Governing Council which will to a large extent assist in bringing an end to the imbroglio. #fundLAUTECH will in due course make inputs that will be useful to the Council and the Visitors in the long term.
#fundLAUTECH's position has remained that the University can be reopened in the shortest possible time if all stakeholders will shift ground.
However, #fundLAUTECH also understands the sensitivity of the situation given the fact that there is an information lacuna on the side of Government that has turned the whole issue into a needless charade.
When #fundLAUTECH suggested the possibility of getting a facility to pay the backlog of salaries so that the school can reopen immediately, the response of the Governor was that at this juncture, the Forensic Audit has become non-negotiable given that there is a need to take an inventory of the personnel, programmes and accounts of the University. While not mincing words, Ogbeni stated that this will be required if the Visitors will need to approach any financial institution for assistance.
The Governor also clearly expressed the Visitors readiness to go the long haul in solving this issue. Aregbesola chronicled his past efforts to rescue the University.
The N6 billion Paris Refund released to Osun against the present financial exposure of government was discussed. Ogbeni gave some highlights on the pending commitments to Pensioners, Local Government Workers and State Workers who are presently on half salary.
On the issue of joint ownership, he stated that joint ownership is non- negotiable and has come to stay. He referred #fundLAUTECH to a standing Supreme Court pronouncement on the issue stating that the University remains a joint patrimony.
Gov. Aregbesola was very clear that the Forensic Audit is sine qua non in this situation. Funds will only be released after the audit report is available.
While #fundLAUTECH remains a viable alternative as an intervention, there is need to rally support for the initiative.
#fundLAUTECH appeals to all stakeholders particularly the Unions on campus to shift ground and reach a compromise with the Governing Council for the sake of the 34,000 students stranded in this crisis.
Gov. Aregbesola wholeheartedly commended the #fundLAUTECH Initiative and gave his tacit support for our efforts as Alumni to mobilize funds globally.
Present at the meeting with Gov. Rauf Aregbesola this afternoon was Ropo Egbeleke, Saheed Adetunbi, 'Tunde Ajayi-Ope and 'Sola Kolawole.
#fundLAUTECH appreciates Gov. Rauf Aregbesola for the audience and endorsement.
